A bass ukulele is a relatively modern instrument inspired by traditional ukuleles and bass guitars. It is basically a miniature bass guitar that looks like a ukulele. Bass ukulele tuning plays the same notes like the standard bass guitar which is E-A-D-G. The only difference is that it is one octave higher. Bass ukulele's typically use polyurethane strings which are much more dense and thick than your traditional ukulele strings.
