How to Change the Batteries: Haze HSDP-836CEQ
The Haze HSDP-836CEQ features a low-profile EPS pickup system designed to keep the guitar lightweight and resonant. This system is powered by two CR2032 (3V) button cell batteries located inside the soundhole.
If your guitar's built-in tuner won't turn on or your plugged-in sound is weak/distorted, it is time for a battery change. Follow these simple steps:
1. Prepare the Strings
You do not need to remove the strings. Simply loosen the D and G strings (the middle two) until they are slack enough to move to the side. This gives you enough room to reach your hand comfortably into the soundhole.
2. Locate the Internal Battery Pouch/Tray
Reach inside the soundhole toward the "upper bout" (the side of the guitar that faces you while playing). You will feel a small plastic tray or fabric pouch held against the wood by a Velcro strip.
3. Remove the Battery Holder
- Gently peel the battery holder away from the Velcro base.
- Note: Use one finger to hold the base against the guitar wall while peeling to ensure the adhesive stays firmly attached to the wood.
- Pull the holder toward the soundhole opening so you can see the battery compartment.
4. Replace the CR2032 Cells
- Open the small plastic cover on the holder.
- Remove the two old CR2032 batteries.
- Insert two fresh CR2032 batteries with the "+" (text side) facing UP.
- Snap the cover shut. You should hear a distinct "click" confirming it is secure.
5. Re-mount and Test
- Press the holder back onto the Velcro strip inside the guitar.
- Pro Tip: Ensure the wires are tucked away from the guitar top to prevent any "buzzing" or vibrating sounds while playing.
- Press the "Tuner" button on the external control panel to verify power.
- Retune your strings and you’re ready to play!
Maintenance Tip: Always use high-quality Lithium CR2032 batteries. If you aren't planning to plug in your guitar for several months, we recommend removing the batteries to prevent any potential leak or drainage.
