Experience Endless Possibilities with the FV8MS 8-String Fanned Fret V Electric Guitar
The Nightshade FV8MS 8-String Fanned Fret V Electric Guitar is about breaking free from musical constraints and unlocking new creative possibilities. While a traditional 6-string guitar covers a wide range of notes, an 8-string goes beyond, offering extended range, deeper tonal versatility, and the opportunity to explore sounds that are impossible on fewer strings.
With two additional lower strings, typically tuned to B and F#, the guitar offers access to deep, resonant bass notes. This extended low-end range allows you to:
- Create heavy, djent-inspired riffs with bone-crushing power in metal genres.
Eliminate the need for a bass guitar in certain contexts, offering both rhythm and melodic duties in one instrument. - Explore complex chord voicings and broaden harmonic possibilities by incorporating deeper bass notes.
- At the same time, the standard 6-string tuning remains intact, so you can still play traditional chords, melodies, and solos without changing your approach.
The 8-string guitar is the embodiment of innovation and musical evolution, and its history can be traced back to the need for broader tonal possibilities. Initially used in genres like metal and progressive rock, the 8-string guitar allows players to venture into lower registers while still keeping the brightness and clarity on the higher strings. But the real game-changer came with the introduction of the fanned fret system.
The fanned fret design, with its angled frets, was pioneered to address the tension issues that come with multi-string guitars. By varying the scale lengths across the strings, it provides a more ergonomic and sonically balanced instrument. This evolution was driven by players seeking not just an expanded range of notes, but also a guitar that feels natural and comfortable, even with the added complexity of more strings. As musicians began experimenting with these designs, the instrument quickly gained traction for its ability to maintain clarity across all strings, even in the heaviest of playing styles.
Today, the 8-string fanned fret guitar is used by musicians across many genres who seek to push the boundaries of what a guitar can do. Its unique construction allows for a fuller, more expressive performance, offering a range of sounds that were once only possible with specialized instruments. It’s a symbol of how the guitar continues to evolve, with players shaping its future through their creativity.
The FV8MS stands out not just for its cutting-edge features, but for how it seamlessly integrates them to enhance your playing experience.
Here’s why it’s the best choice for players who demand more:
Extended Range with Precision: The 8-string setup gives you the ability to explore low, rumbling frequencies without losing the brilliance of higher-pitched melodies. The fanned fret design ensures each string is tuned perfectly for its role, offering greater clarity across the entire neck and making it ideal for both rhythm and lead work.
Exceptional Playability: The Okoume body and neck are lightweight yet durable, ensuring that this guitar is easy to handle during long sessions or live performances. The purpleheart fingerboard provides a smooth, fast playing surface that feels responsive under your fingers, perfect for everything from intricate fingerpicking to aggressive shred solos. With 24 frets, you have the freedom to explore the entire neck and access those high notes with ease.
Tone and Versatility: Equipped with Belcat BHF-22-8-P ALNICO5 pickups, the FV8MS provides an impressive range of tones. Whether you’re aiming for tight, punchy low-end riffs or crisp, articulate highs, these pickups deliver. The master volume and tone controls with a 3-way selector let you shape your sound, ensuring you can adapt to any musical style with precision.
Sleek, Modern Aesthetics: The matte finish body and neck give the FV8MS a contemporary look while reducing unwanted glare under stage lights. The black hardware and minimalist design ensure that the guitar looks as professional as it sounds.
Stability and Durability: With Alice BE530-8-WB2 strings and a bone nut, this guitar is built for optimal tuning stability and longevity. You can trust the FV8MS to handle heavy playing, whether you’re in the studio or on the road.
Innovative Construction: The Okoume body and neck not only provide excellent resonance but also contribute to the guitar's overall balance, ensuring that it feels comfortable in your hands, whether you're standing or sitting.
The FV8MS is more than just an instrument—it’s a statement of your musical ambition. By choosing this guitar, you're opting for cutting-edge technology, impeccable craftsmanship, and the freedom to explore new sonic territories.
